“I won’t be spending anything extra”
“I have a budget of xxx”
“I’m broke”
“I have a budget of xxx”
“I’m broke”
Don’t believe everything you hear – these are just defence mechanisms to make the client feel more secure in your environment, they keep their cards close to their chest. We just need to make them feel comfortable first, then the story changes. I’ve had countless occasions where a client has stated a strict budget for their wedding, and end up doubling or evening tripling their original ‘budget.’ Some have even spent ten times more. There is the money they’re prepared to spend with you initially, then there’s the money they’re prepared to spend once they’re comfortable with you, feel less defensive and see the images you created for them. You never know what might happen, so don’t base your actions on their first comments.
